As the Global Brand Design Director at Herman Miller, Lawrence played a pivotal role in launching products, notably a collaboration with Herman Miller & Hay; he also led the global creative and marketing efforts for a new business vertical in the Gaming/Esports world. He set up highly functional distributed teams across Europe and APMEA, showcasing his prowess in international business leadership.

Heading the design experience team at BBH & Blacksheep in Shanghai, Lawrence expanded his knowledge in the Chinese market and the advertising industry. His leadership extended to diverse global, regional, and local accounts.

As Creative Director at Magnetic Asia, Lawrence played a crucial role in transforming the company into a leading events agency, overseeing the creative department, and successfully launching events like Sonar and Clockenflap.

Lawrence holds an MA in Design Management from the London College of Communication, University of the Arts, and a BA Honors Degree in Furniture and product Design from Kingston University. His accolades include 2 BAFTAs and a Lovie Award for the BBC’s Digital Glastonbury.

Current Entrepreneurial Ventures:

In addition to his design career, Lawrence and his wife have started 2 family businesses. They have ventured into real estate, investing in a portfolio of properties. Simultaneously, they have embarked on developing a homeware brand – Shumi. Shumi celebrates individuality and passions and believes that personal interests are the key to a fulfilled life. Through a thoughtfully curated collection of lifestyle products, Shumi aims to resonate with the diverse pursuits that make each person unique.
