What would you change about how schools approach this issue?”
The Renaissance Recovery Scholarship is committed to fostering awareness and understanding of addiction-related issues among the youth of today. It is an annual opportunity for students to delve into the complexities of addiction.
Open to students pursuing higher education, the scholarship’s goal is to encourage thoughtful reflection and discourse on addiction and its far-reaching impact on individuals, families, and communities. Starting in January of 2024 applications will open again for students to submit their essays. Katie is majoring in nursing with a goal of becoming a Registered Nurse then continuing towards a master’s in nursing. Katie states: “Ultimately I want to be a nurse practitioner (NP) and work in the NICU with premature, sick and substance dependent babies. I have personally had two preemies that spent time in the NICU, and I believe I’m in a unique position to help without judgment in a compassionate, caring manner.”
