Karen DiCarlo Selected for IAOTP's Empowered Woman of the Year Award

Karen DiCarlo was recently chosen to receive the Empowered Woman of the Year Award for 2023, given by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). Her exemplary role as a female entrepreneur and talented professional displays her influence, capability, and proficiency.

Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) is an honor, only a few women are chosen for this distinction based on their years of experience, professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, and contributions to their communities. These women empower others with innovation and compassion to reach their goals while creating change for future generations. Ms. Di Carlo will be honored for this distinction at IAOTP’s 2024 Annual Awards Gala.

The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami, stated, “We are honored to have Karen Di Carlo as part of the IAOTP family. She provides visionary leadership as a female entrepreneur, and her extraordinary accomplishments prove she will empower women worldwide. We look forward to celebrating all her merits at the Annual Awards Gala and cannot wait to see more amazing things from this woman.

With more than three decades of experience in the industry, Karen’s passion has always been to help children in poverty. In 1986, she started volunteering at Santa Claus, Inc., and in 2012, she was appointed the organization’s first Executive Director. Managing the organization’s operations and committed volunteers is definitely a “labor of love” for her.

Under Karen’s leadership, Santa Claus, Inc. has experienced remarkable growth, expanding by over 1100%. This expansion has allowed the organization to provide essential necessities to more than 200,000 children throughout the year through its Youth Enrichment Services (Yes!) and seasonal programs. She has successfully forged collaborative solid partnerships between Santa Claus, Inc. and numerous national and international corporations. These include FedEx, Bank of America, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Amazon, Walmart, Toyota, BNSF Railroad, Union Pacific Railroad, Stater Bros. Charities, Good 360, In & Out Burger, Ross, Target, Delivering Good, United Way, The Community Foundation of SB and Riverside Counties, among others. Santa Claus, Inc. receives vital funding and millions of dollars worth of in-kind products at their warehouse every year. These valuable partnerships make it possible to provide basic necessities that significantly enhance the lives of children in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. San Bernardino County holds the distinction of being the largest county in the United States.

Before embarking on her professional career, Ms. DiCarlo attended San Bernardino Valley College, where she obtained her Associate’s degree in English.

Throughout her illustrious career, Ms. Karen DiCarlo has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her accomplishments. Karen received the 2018 “Hero of the Heartland Award” from Stater Bros. Charities. The Sun Newspaper’s “Outstanding Citizen Award” was handed to four SB County leaders during the Sun Newspaper’s 100th-anniversary celebration, as well as the highly competitive 2016 “Social Entrepreneur of the Year” award at the CSUSB “Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards.” She was also selected as California Senator Connie Leyva’s “Woman of the Year” for the 21st Congressional District. Earlier this year, Karen was awarded IAOTP’s Top Executive Director of the Year 2023. She will receive her recognition as Empowered Woman of the Year at the IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala in December 2024 at the magnificent Opryland Hotel in Nashville.

Karen DiCarlo believes that individuals who volunteer for nonprofit organizations develop lifelong connections. Throughout her extensive 30-year tenure as a volunteer, she gained firsthand knowledge that the benefits for those who serve are just as substantial as the advantages for those who receive.

Looking back, Karen attributes her success to her perseverance, work ethic, and the mentors she has had along the way. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, three children and ten grandchildren. In the future, she hopes to inspire and influence those getting into the field.
