Tonya Harris Selected for IAOTP's Lifetime Achievement Award

Tonya Harris, Speaker, Author, Environmental Toxicity Specialist, Children’s Mental Health Advocate, and Founder of Slightly Greener, was recently chosen to receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 by the International Association of Top Professionals.

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in and of itself, only a few select members are chosen for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. These special honorees are selected to receive this award based on their longevity in their fields, their contributions to society, and their impact on their industries. Tonya Harris will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award next December at IAOTP’s 2024 Annual Awards Gala at the magnificent Opryland Hotel in Nashville.

Tonya, a childhood leukemia survivor and mother of three, utilizes her expertise in the environmental health field to educate families about toxins in their homes and their impact on their children’s health. She is a highly regarded specialist in Environmental Toxicity and the founder of Slightly Greener. Her mission is to assist families in detoxifying their homes by implementing small changes that can have a significant impact over time.  

She has an impressive repertoire of prior roles, which include: owner of Naturally Boutique, an online store that specialized in offering a wide range of chemical-free, natural, and organic products, and held the position of Publications Editor at the National Association of Nutrition Professionals. 

Currently, Tonya is the host of The Slightly Greener Life podcast and is the creator of Slightly Greener. She specializes in the following areas: environmental toxins and their impact on children, effective methods for eliminating toxins from homes, raising awareness about childhood cancer, addressing ADHD, and reducing the stigma surrounding learning disabilities and mental health issues in children. She is also the author of the bestselling book, The Slightly Greener Method: Detoxing Your Home is Easier, Faster, and Less Expensive Than You Think. Tonya has been featured online in publications such as Reader’s Digest, MindBodyGreen, Insider, Architectural Digest, Good Housekeeping, Better Homes & Gardens, and Martha Stewart Living, and has appeared on TV shows across the country, such as Great Day Washington, Great Day Houston, CBS New York, CBS Los Angeles, KTLA Morning News, Good Day LA, and The Dr. Oz Show for her expertise in environmental toxins and non-toxic cleaning tips. 

Tonya earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University and her Master of Science degree in Holistic Nutrition from Hawthorn University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She also is board certified in holistic nutrition and holds multiple certificates in the environmental health field.

In addition to her successful career, Tonya is a sought-after public speaker and Children’s Mental Health Advocate. She was a featured Speaker on Speakers Who Dare, where she discusses her daughter’s personal experience of being bullied in school. Her story was so moving that it was made into a short film documentary, which got internatinal recognition. Tonya and her daughter traveled across the country to be interviewed on news stations across America. Tonya is also a published author of Henry the Flying Squirrel, where her mission includes showing children that it is possible to overlook their label, whether it is a learning disability, behavior issue, or diagnosis, and to recognize their strengths. She is also a big believer in paying it forward. She was named one of the “Top 15 Most Charitable Women” in her local area and founded Clubs to Cure Kids, a fundraiser to support childhood cancer research at Lurie Children’s Hospital and Make-a-Wish Illinois. 

Ms. Harris has received awards accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding commitment and genuine concern for the health of others. Tonya has been recognized with awards and accolades for her outstanding work. In 2022, she was honored with the prestigious title of Top Inspirational Health Advocate of the Year and was featured on the famous Reuters Billboard in Times Square. 

In 2020, she was honored with the Empowered Woman of the Year award, followed by the Top Environmental Specialist of the Decade award in 2021. In 2019, Tonya was honored as the Top Environmental Toxicity Specialist of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). She was also featured on the cover of TIP Magazine, which showcases top industry professionals. She will receive recognition for her Lifetime Achievement Award at IAOTP’s Annual Award Gala in December 2024 at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville.

Looking back, Tonya attributes her success to the amazing mentors she’s had along the way. She is passionate about educating and offering guidance and tips to individuals seeking healthier alternatives. In the future, her goal is to help families discover how simple it can be to reduce toxins in their homes without giving up their lifestyle.
